Mulder Shipyard has presented the Mulder 122, a 37.2-metre evolution of its ThirtySix family. This is not a leap into an unfamiliar size band so much as an attempt to scale a formula the Dutch yard knows well after nine Mulder ThirtySix deliveries. For a buyer, that matters only if the conversation moves beyond extra metres and attractive renders.
The new yacht has an 8-metre beam, 2.05-metre draft and a quoted displacement of 207 tonnes at half load. Mulder specifies an aluminium hull and superstructure, Van Oossanen’s Fast Displacement Hull Form, a 15-knot cruising speed and a 17-knot top speed at half load. Classification is listed as ABS A1 Commercial Yachting Service for unrestricted navigation, with IMO Tier IV compliance available on request.
What Changes On Board
The most practical gains sit aft and forward. Mulder describes an extended swim platform, easier stern stair geometry and a transverse garage for a tender up to 6.5 metres, full-size jetskis, seabobs and dive gear. Forward, the yacht gains a larger open-air lounge, while the side decks are specified with more than 80 cm of usable width.
Those details can matter more than the sales phrase “larger superyacht”. Tender storage decides whether an owner carries the right equipment or ends up needing a chase boat. Side-deck width and high rails affect crew work, docking and night movement when the yacht is actually being used.
The Contract Questions
The layout includes a main-deck owner’s suite, four guest cabins, capacity for up to 12 guests and accommodation for 6 crew. At 37 metres, buyers should test more than the interior mood board: crew separation, access to the CMC stabilisers, 80 kWe generators, tankage and the real hotel-load calculation all deserve attention before a build slot is signed.
Our recent Monaco market review described a more selective superyacht buyer. The Mulder 122 fits that mood: less theatre, more attempt to turn a known platform into a larger private cruising yacht.
