Sunseeker 90 Ocean Enclosed delivered in Asia: the voyage starts with service

Jan Kilian · Market correspondent · · 3 min read

Sunseeker says it has delivered a 90 Ocean Enclosed in Asia in cooperation with DCH Marine. The owner plans a route starting in Taiwan, then moving north to Japan before continuing through the Philippines and Indonesia towards Australia. For a buyer, the important story is not the handover itself. It is the fact that a yacht of this size must be bought together with a service, crew and operating plan.

The official model data shows the scale of that decision. The Sunseeker 90 Ocean Enclosed is 27.10 m long, 7.16 m wide and draws 1.95 m. Sunseeker lists 13,000 litres of fuel, five cabins, six en-suites or day heads, shaft-drive MAN V12 1650, 1900 or 2000 engines, a top speed of up to 27 knots and a range of 1,100 nautical miles at 10 or 12 knots.

Why the enclosed flybridge matters

The Enclosed version moves the helm to a protected upper deck and leaves the main deck as a large saloon, galley and dining area. In hot, humid or changeable climates this is more than styling. It gives the skipper a climate-controlled command position, adds privacy and can make long passages less tiring.

The trade-off is more system load. Air conditioning, glazing, access, electronics and maintenance all need to be read as part of the purchase, not as afterthoughts.

Delivery is the start of due diligence

Sunseeker also says further interior customisation is planned after handover. That is a useful reminder for new-build and nearly-new yacht buyers. Delivery does not always close the project. If the owner wants the yacht adapted to the way life will actually work on board, the schedule, warranty position, weight effect and contractor responsibility need to be written down before the work starts.

For buyers comparing yachts through W Yachts, the practical checklist is clear: intended cruising area, crew, MAN service coverage, spares, insurance and berth planning should be discussed before the final specification becomes emotional.
