Azimut Magellano 27M brings the voyager idea back to Cannes

Azimut has shown the Magellano 27M at Cannes, presenting it as the third generation of its voyager series. The new model is 26.2 metres long, has a beam of 6.85 metres, five guest cabins and two crew cabins. Exterior design is by Jarkko Jämsén, while the interiors come from AMDL Circle with Michele De Lucchi and Davide Angeli.

The useful point is not simply the size. Magellano 27M uses a Dual Mode hull developed by the Azimut|Benetti Group R&D department with P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture. Azimut lists two MAN engine packages, with maximum speeds of up to 21 knots or 23-24 knots, and test cruising speeds around 16-18 knots. PressMare also reports around 1,000 nautical miles of range at 12 knots.

Why Owners Should Care

The Magellano line has always promised a calmer cruising logic than a conventional flybridge focused mainly on top speed. With the 27M, the buyer’s question is whether they genuinely need a long-range cruising profile, or whether they mainly want generous day-to-day comfort and occasional coastal passages.

The specification should therefore be read around three items: engine choice, fuel burn at 10-12 and 16-18 knots, and the hotel systems. Azimut describes a Silent Technology programme aimed at noise, vibration and emissions, plus an optional Zero Emission Hotel Mode using LFP batteries.

Design Still Needs Testing

The Magellano 27M interior is deliberately architectural, with wood, a sea-facing loggia and a slower onboard rhythm. That may be attractive, but the buying decision still has to return to data. As with real yacht range, a catalogue claim becomes useful only when matched to the owner’s actual cruising pattern.

For a European buyer, Magellano 27M may be an interesting alternative to stepping into a larger yacht with higher fixed costs. The practical next step is to compare demonstrator specification, weight-adding options and available used-market alternatives through a broker such as W Yachts.
