Antonini Navi sells first XPD95: construction starts this autumn for a 2028 launch

Jan Kilian · Market correspondent · · 3 min read

Antonini Navi has signed the first construction contract for its XPD95. The sub-30 m, sub-200 GT steel yacht is scheduled to enter construction in autumn 2026 and launch in summer 2028. The distinction matters: this is no longer another concept announcement but a funded build programme with an owner, professional advisers and a delivery timetable.

The yard says the steel hull will carry an aluminium superstructure. Sculli & Covini designed the exterior and Hot Lab will develop the interior. Camper & Nicholsons is appointed to supervise construction, with Daniela Duck acting as the owner’s representative.

Staying Below 200 GT Shapes The Yacht

XPD95 retains a low, horizontal profile and deliberately omits a conventional sundeck. Instead of stacking another level above the yacht, the arrangement provides a 44 sq m main-deck cockpit and a 33 sq m foredeck living area on the upper deck. The private owner’s deck totals about 60 sq m, divided between a 25 sq m interior and a 35 sq m terrace.

At the stern, a multi-purpose beach area of roughly 35 sq m is intended to carry a five-metre tender while leaving part of the space available to guests. Once the tender is launched, it becomes a private terrace. A buyer should test that idea against stability, securing arrangements, salt-water protection and the crew time needed to change modes safely.

A First Contract Still Carries Prototype Risk

Because the yacht is being developed around a specific owner, final displacement, range, systems architecture and operating cost will depend on the approved specification. An undisclosed price is normal in this segment, but the 2026–2028 build period creates exposure to material costs, equipment substitutions and variations.

The construction contract, change-order procedure, payment milestones and independent technical supervision therefore matter as much as the deck plan. Our analysis of contract risk in a major yacht programme explains why technical ambition and financial safeguards must be considered together. For XPD95, the next meaningful evidence will be the start of fabrication, hull progress and whether the yard holds the planned summer 2028 launch date.
