Ferretti strengthens investor relations as Cugnasca takes IR and sustainability role

Jan Kilian · Market correspondent · · 3 min read

Ferretti Group has appointed Elisabetta Cugnasca as Head of Investor Relations & Sustainability. The appointment is effective from 14 September, with Cugnasca reporting directly to chief financial officer Marco Zammarchi. It might look like a routine personnel announcement. For a group building Riva, Pershing, Wally, Custom Line, CRN, Itama and Ferretti Yachts, the meaning is broader: the quality of capital-market dialogue increasingly matters to buyers and partners assessing long-term risk.

Ferretti says Cugnasca brings experience in financial communication, controlling, sustainability and corporate governance. Her career includes Arthur Andersen, Autogrill, Aquafil and Interpump, along with leadership roles in the Italian Investor Relations Association.

Why Should A Yacht Buyer Care?

The buyer of a 20-, 30- or 40-metre yacht is not buying only a hull. They are buying a promise of multi-year construction, warranty support, spare parts, after-sales service and manufacturer stability. When a yard sits inside a listed group, investor communication becomes one input in the buyer’s risk assessment.

Ferretti’s investor material presents a seven-brand portfolio, presence in more than 70 countries and an order backlog. Those numbers do not prove that a particular yacht will be perfectly prepared at handover. They do show whether the group can explain demand, margins, backlog and investment in a regular public framework.

Ferretti has already seen several management changes this year. We recently covered Andrea Frabetti’s return as an adviser to chief executive Stassi Anastassov. Cugnasca addresses a different part of the structure. Frabetti brings product memory and technical judgement. Cugnasca is meant to strengthen transparency towards investors and the sustainability brief.

Substance Before ESG Language

Sustainability is overused in yachting. For an owner, the real question is whether a group can provide measurable data, report risks consistently and separate marketing language from market information. The larger the contract, the more the buyer needs to understand the financial condition of the counterparty receiving staged payments.

One appointment does not change Ferretti’s risk profile by itself. It does signal that the group wants a stronger dialogue with capital markets and the regulatory environment. For buyers, that is another reason to read beyond the yacht specification before signing an LOI: reports, results dates and backlog communication all matter.

On a specific purchase, an owner-side broker such as W Yachts should connect both layers: the appeal of the product and the hard assessment of contract risk. In large yacht groups, those subjects meet sooner than the brochure suggests.
