Benetti sells the first B.Neos 40M as the hybrid project moves toward 2028 delivery

Benetti has sold the first B.Neos, a 40.6-metre displacement yacht kept below 300 GT. Royal Yacht International said it represented the buyer, with delivery planned for spring 2028. This is more than a routine contract note. Around the 40-metre mark, B.Neos shows how buyers are tying volume, silence and energy management into the same ownership decision.

Benetti introduced the model earlier this year with exterior architecture by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design and interiors by Francesca Muzio of FM Architettura. The yard positioned the project around lower noise, continuous spaces and an owner’s arrangement intended to feel private without stepping into a much larger yacht.

Hybrid Claims Need Contract Control

The technical centre of the project is a MAN Smart Hybrid system with MAN V8-800 engines. Benetti says the yacht can operate in electric modes under way and at anchor, with energy use and emissions reduced by up to 30 per cent. That is useful only if a buyer translates it into contract checks: batteries, generators, emergency modes, integrator warranty, MAN service coverage and the real hotel-load profile.

The sub-300 GT limit matters too. It can help with crewing, operating discipline and cost control, but it also forces choices in storage, technical space and acoustic insulation. On B.Neos, the promise of silence therefore needs to be verified through sea-trial data and system documentation, not through renderings alone.

A 2028 delivery slot suggests that buyers still accept a long new-build horizon when the yacht has a clear ownership argument. B.Neos is not selling length alone. It is selling quieter life on board, softer architecture and a more discreet approach to onboard energy.
