Marina Port Vell is now presenting Biras Marina as part of its collection. For a superyacht owner, that is more than a destination update. It suggests that premium marina operators are trying to build networks that connect the Mediterranean season with Caribbean winter use.
Biras Marina sits in North Sound on Virgin Gorda, within Biras Creek Resort. Marina Port Vell’s official page lists 25 berths for yachts up to 70 metres, 20 mooring buoys, draft from 7.5 metres and services including fuel, shore power, fresh water, waste facilities, dock assistance and short or long-term stays.
Owners Buy Predictability, Not Only A Berth
PressMare and Marina World describe the move as the first step beyond the Mediterranean after Mirazur Capital became majority shareholder in Marina Port Vell. The relevant point for owners is not the investor label. It is whether Barcelona’s operating model can be carried into North Sound with enough consistency to make winter planning easier.
The Caribbean has many beautiful anchorages, but a large yacht needs more than a view. It needs power, fuel, internet, guest transfers, crew access and a place where the yacht can remain between itinerary stages without improvisation. Biras adds a private resort setting, three restaurants, a boutique and a helipad.
Winter Planning Becomes Part Of The Purchase
For a Mediterranean owner, the question is whether the yacht should remain in Europe for winter or work in a warmer region. A Barcelona-to-Virgin Gorda link may simplify planning, but it does not remove the cost model. Relocation, insurance, spares, local taxes, crew requirements and flight logistics still need to be priced before the itinerary looks attractive.
