NBP published table 168/A/NBP/2026 for 31 August with the euro at PLN 4.3264. The previous table from 28 August showed PLN 4.3328, so the difference was PLN 0.0064 per euro. On a EUR 100,000 deposit that equals about PLN 640, and on a EUR 1 million payment it equals about PLN 6,400 before any bank spread.
The ECB reference rate for 31 August showed EUR/PLN at 4.3280. That confirms a similar market level and also reminds buyers that a reference rate is not a transaction rate. In a premium yacht purchase, the larger problem is often the payment date, intermediary bank costs, the spread and escrow rules.
A Table Does Not Close The Budget
Buyers should separate three numbers: the rate on the offer date, the rate on the deposit date and the rate on the completion date. If the contract is in euro and the buyer’s funds originate in zloty, the currency reserve is part of the real yacht price. The longer the gap between LOI, survey and final transfer, the more useful it becomes to ask what happens if the euro moves several groszy higher again.
VAT adds another layer. If a yacht is offered net of VAT, the exchange rate has to be considered for price, tax, registration costs, season preparation and transport. If the yacht is advertised as VAT paid, the buyer still needs to see the documents, because a badly described tax status can erase the apparent advantage of a favourable exchange rate.
Escrow Must Match The Contract
The safest approach is to define in advance which currency holds the deposit, who pays transfer costs, when a payment is considered received and what happens if a bank delays booking. That is not accounting decoration. It is a risk-control mechanism when several hundred thousand or several million euro move between accounts. During survey and completion, buyers should also maintain a separate expiry date for the bank offer.
This briefing belongs next to our English guide to motor-yacht fuel and range budgeting, because currency and operating assumptions should sit in one purchase model. W Yachts should show every client not only the euro price, but also the payment timetable, the currency buffer and the document list required before sending money.
